Insurance Covering

Occupational accident

An occupational accident is an unexpected external event causing injury, in locational, temporal and causal relationship to the insured occupation or education.
Activities in connection with the insured occupation or education, e.g. the journey to and from the place of occupation or education, are covered by this insurance as well.

Occupational disease

An occupational disease is a health impairment caused by the insured occupation or education: Occupational diseases are listed in the Annex to the General Social Insurance Act (Allgemeines Sozialversicherungsgesetz).
On the basis of a General Provision, other diseases not listed in this Annex are also insured: their occupational causality must be proven.

Reporting

Occupational accidents and diseases are required to be reported. Employers or educational authorities are bound by law to inform the AUVA.
